Cardiology

Bellevue Veterinary Emergency + Specialty offers advanced veterinary cardiology services led by a Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologist. Our cardiology team specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of heart and circulatory diseases in dogs and cats. From congenital heart defects and arrhythmias to congestive heart failure and hypertension, our specialists use state-of-the-art diagnostics, such as echocardiograms, ECGs, and thoracic imaging, to deliver accurate, compassionate care tailored to each pet’s needs.

If your primary veterinarian suspects a heart condition, our cardiology service is here to provide expert evaluation and collaborative care to improve your pet’s quality of life.

What does a Cardiologist do?

A veterinary cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart and circulatory system in dogs and cats. At Bellevue Veterinary Emergency + Specialty, our Board-Certified Cardiologist works closely with pet owners, primary care veterinarians, and our multidisciplinary specialty team to create a personalized diagnostic and treatment plan for each patient.

Cardiology evaluations often include echocardiograms (ultrasound of the heart), electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), thoracic X-rays, and blood pressure assessments to help identify heart murmurs, arrhythmias, valve disorders, cardiomyopathies, and congenital heart defects.

Our cardiologist’s goal is to improve your pet’s heart function and quality of life through early detection, accurate diagnosis, and evidence-based management of heart disease. Whether your pet requires medication, monitoring, or advanced procedures, we provide compassionate care and clear communication throughout the entire process.

What to Expect

When your pet visits Bellevue Veterinary Emergency + Specialty for a cardiology consultation, you can expect compassionate, expert care from start to finish. Our Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologist and trained support team are dedicated to providing a calm, comfortable experience while obtaining the most accurate diagnosis possible.

During your pet’s visit, our cardiology team will:

  • Review your pet’s medical history and any previous test results from your primary veterinarian.

  • Perform a comprehensive physical exam focused on heart and lung function.

  • Recommend advanced diagnostic tests, which may include an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart), electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG), chest X-rays, or blood pressure monitoring.

  • Discuss the diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis, answering any questions you may have.

Depending on your pet’s condition, our cardiologist may prescribe medication, recommend lifestyle or activity adjustments, or develop a long-term management plan with your family veterinarian.

Our goal is to provide collaborative, transparent, and individualized care—helping you understand your pet’s heart condition and how we can work together to keep them living a happy, healthy life.
